I worked at BNP Paribas

Pros

The benefits are excellent, especially the 3 weeks vacation to start, plus all the bank holidays. The pay is competitive. International co-workers made it a stimulating place to work.

Cons

Advancement heavily dependent on one's immediate manager. If one's immediate manager was stalled in his career or not highly thought of, it is difficult for those under him to advance. Since it is a French company, assignments in the United States seemed to be a perk for the better French employees, or a sort of dumping ground for the less competent French employees. Understandable, since the United States is not a large market for them.

I have been working at BNP Paribas

    Pros

Great vacation, but that's about it!

    Cons

Compensation is way below market and BNP prides its 'compensation restraint.' Great place to start, but not to stay or advance. Don't try to get a promotion or notice unless you are French- it's useless and you won't get recognized.

    I worked at BNP Paribas

    Pros

    Very international bank.
Possibility to travel a lot for business purposes.
They know how to involve in work. The team are very small and therefore you have an important amount of responsibilities.

    Cons

The health insurance is not satisfactory for junior employee.
The interaction with the bank's headquarters in Paris may sometimes slow down the workflow.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

They should continue managing the bank as they do.
They should make the communication with Paris headquarters more fluid and quick.
