I worked at BNY Mellon as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

You're at the hub of the financial world. A lot going on around you. If you're a main-framer, this is the place for you!

    Cons

They seriously lag behind in the technology world. The client machines use OS's that are two generations behind. Everything is locked down, which makes it harder to move ahead.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I can only suggest things as far as IT goes. It is time to hire more technical folks and start at redoing the infrastructure. Not only will it create jobs, but also help the bank move into the 21st century.

I have been working at BNY Mellon full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Occasionally good work & life balance

    Cons

Inept management focused entirely on fee revenue, no IT support, 10+ year old computers that require multiple boot ups, compensation focused on who supports the correct boss (b/c you get more than one).

A perfect example of BNY Mellon is its Christmas Party. Held every year on the 54th floor of 200 Park Ave, you eat cheap food in other people's cubicles and they serve 2 buck chuck for wine...and it's held on Mondays to discourage attendance.

    Doesn't Recommend
