I have been working at BNY Mellon full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

It's a very relaxed environment, not too stressful, where most people just put in their 8 hours and that's good enough. Most of the people are very friendly and helpful. Where I've worked, managers care about you advancing and will give you opportunities if you're deserving of them.

    Cons

Unfortunately, some of my coworkers in other groups are not so lucky. Some of the managers, are managers because of tenure and they resent their younger, hungrier employees trying to move ahead. Also, salaries are not competitive with the industry. This is especially bad in markets with high cost of living, like New York. It seems no matter how much you worked during the year or how good your review, don't expect more than your 1-2% increase.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make salaries more competitive and commensurate with how the employees perform during the year.
