I worked at BNY Mellon full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

At times there is very creative and interesting work. There are some great opportunities to work directly with clients. Culture is improving overall. The group I worked for has been experiencing constant change of management.

Cons

Regimented and adversarial performance review process is full of jargon, meaningful action is not encouraged. No chance to elevate if your manager doesn't want to advocate for your success. Fear of reprisal stifles ingenuity. There is a lot of talk of innovation, but much of it is hyperbole.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow transfers for people with valuable skills. Remove the bureaucracy.

I worked at BNY Mellon full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Vacation time is great! Also, if you try hard and learn well, there is room to grow

    Cons

Since the merger with BNY, you never know if your area will be cut out and moved to a different city or outsourced.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop taking away monetary compensation to employees that work their hearts out for you. Mass, cheap lunches with dollar store quality knick-knacks make the employees angry, not happy. Take time to see what the operations areas actually do to make your areas strong.

I worked at BNY Mellon full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Worked with a great group of people.

    Cons

Management is more concerned with creating an avalanche of paperwork then focusing on the work that will benefit the business. Good people get walked out and paper pushers carry on...

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Bring back jobs to the United States. Compensate the hard working employees who have knowledge and experience instead of showing them the door.
