Current Employee - Maintenance Engineer in Toledo, OH

I have been working at BP as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

The people are great and you will have plenty of opportunities to learn. You will get to see how the company works and what the corporate atmosphere is like. You get to work closely with full time engineers, so you will have a good idea of what the full time job will be like.

    Cons

Their information systems are pretty lacking. The way information is stored and located ends up eating up a big chunk of your time. You spend more time looking for the information (specs, drawings, etc) than you do actually using it. It's a bit archaic, and they could definitely make some big imporvements.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Restructure IT systems for the "Google generation". New hires will not be satisfied with unintuitive and slow methods for accessing relevant information. Just learning all the ways information is stored within the company is the biggest barrier to productivity for a new hire.
