Great long-term company, despite restructuring

Fuels Value Chain (Former Employee)

ProsEnergy is a great industry to work in and BP's a great company to work for. They pay well, have a nice benefits package. There's lots of room to move horizontally across the company and things in the industry are constantly changing. So people rarely find themselves bored with their job.

ConsBP is known for job cuts due to restructuring and it's definitely not a place where you can accelerate quickly through the company. People tend to be satisfied with staying their long-term, which is good because you'll certainly need to be there a while to move into an manager/executive position. However the slow progression model is necessary because it takes a lot of knowledge and experience to be an executive in such a complex business.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Work didn't suit or interest me

Chemical Engineer (Former Employee) Sunbury, England (UK)

I worked at BP as an intern for less than a year

Pros: Big company, good employee benefits, good lunches! Lots of… Cons: I wan't matched up to work that interested me and hence found it pretty uninteresting. … Advice to Senior Management: Try to give intern students more choice on what work… Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend More
