Pros

close to home, good benefits

Cons

if you are female, they don't want your opinions or expertise. It is a back-stabbing group at the north america corporate headquarters, and their plant in texas city is still not in compliance. there are certain groups within the company that are mean-spirited. the men like the young women, but if you are over a certain age, they treat you terribly.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of the good ole' boys. Stop the office politics.

I have been working at BP

    Pros

BP has a Dynamic environment. It's a large corporation and generally there are many opportunities to move around. Also the interaction and networking opportunities are great.

    Cons

Highly disorganized. Sometimes I wait for days before a problem is rectified. It's highly inefficient, and it's mind boggling how such a large institution can function with such an inefficient approach.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Respect the people who work for you. Every employee, good or bad deserves feedback. BP needs good people just as much as people need BP, so keep that in mind.

    I worked at BP

    Pros

Promotes continual learning. Many different parts of the company, something for everyone. There is always a drive to be on top of in regards to cutting edge technology.
    Diverse workforce. Great Benefits package.

    Cons

Very bad at melding the business cultures of aquired businesses.
Too many Chiefs, not enough Indians.
For many of those Chiefs, this is just a brief stop on the way to somewhere else.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't forget the smaller markets that made the aquired companies profitable in a shrinking market. Always remember it is the people who make the company what it is, not the share holders.
