    I worked at BP as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

    Safety culture is improving. The emphasis on safety is helping to position the company to be more successful in the future. Work/Life balance is decent, though it could be better. By far the best part is the people. Every person I have met at BP is kind, helpful, and willing to help you do your job.

    Cons

    The way the company stores and accesses information is archaic. Sometime in the next 20 years, BP needs to make a HUGE push to digitize information and make information accessible to employees. 90% of your time is spent sifting through old pieces of paperwork, scanning old documents, and hunting down leads to get simple questions answered. Productivity could be hugely improved with a robust and intuitive IT system. Productivity, employee satisfaction, and safety could be hugely improved by storing and delivery information quickly and efficiently.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Be a bit more flexible on matching people with positions. Not every position requires an exact match between position titles and degree. Most importantly, make employees happier and more productive by bringing their IT solutions in to the 21st century.
