Pros

Good exposure to different projects. Some of the smartest peers.

Cons

Disingenuous manager in my team. Quarterly revenue/profit driven. You'll be thrown under the bus immediately if not playing their little dirty games. No appreciation or encouragement to great achievements. Instead, fear is dominated as the major motivator and back slashes are common among the team.

Advice to Management

We're in the high end consulting business. Treat your employees as your best clients instead of the disposable commodities - it's destructive in the end. Fire the incompetent manager who has no clue of high tech.

    Pros

There are some attributes that come with any consulting oriented company, and if you like consulting BT INS is a fine place to do it. They are respectful of individuals, management is not annoying, and they are a stable company.

    Cons

This is one of the largest companies on the planet and that comes with some operating complexities and business processes that just cause inefficiency. For example there are many disparate backend system needed for administration purposes which are a mess. However this shouldnt be taken as a major complaint, rather just a small obstacle course.

    Advice to Management

Keep working on unifying operations and backend systems. Instead of acquiring new companies consider divesting businesses that are not stategic.

  2. Helpful (1)

The company is very much a boy's club and they stick to the who you know and are politically connected to philosophy.

    Pros

There is a lot of schedule, travel and overall workflow flexibility. This is worth a lot because you are never stuck to a 9-5 office routine.

    Cons

If you are not part of the boy's club or are not well connected or play their game you always fall to the bottom rung of good, challenging assignments, promotions and any career growth at all.

    Advice to Management

There needs to be more cohesiveness in the overall culture and management and more inclusiveness in all the entities that have been integrated. Remove the "outsider" feeling and view if you are not a legacy INS employee.
