Pros

Culture, processes and compensation can be good if you are working with the right people.

Company can be UK centric. Outsource to Tech Mahindra has resulted in poor quality and a lack of opportunity.

Frustrating to be caught in a company focussed on cost saving rather than balancing with innovation

I have been working at BT

    Pros

Family friendly. Some very good people [who sometimes don't hang around]. Decent work life balance. Industry-matching remuneration. Job movement is easier to new roles via a transition process. More global than competitors.

    Cons

Still operates in its divisional silos. Senior management too accountant-heavy meaning the focus is on costs and not revenue. A fair number of middle managers managing upwards. Pockets of intense work can sit right next to under-performing teams. A lot of wasted energy on pet projects that don't eventuate. Overall package [ex remuneration] is not overly attractive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Define the path the growth and follow it - even if it means we have to take more risks. Shorter planning horizons are a norm but don't sacrifice the longer term strategy.
