I worked at Bain & Company full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Good exposure to a range of industries and business issues. Bain does not have any particular focus except for private equity, so you could end up working on a Pulp & Paper company re-organization one day and a private equity due diligence on a Oil & Gas E&P company the next day.

    Cons

This office in particular had a pretty rough work/life balance. While you were on a case you were expected to be there from 9am to 12am Mon-Thurs and do some work on Sunday evening.
Biggest issue was the lack of control on what you work on and the lack of control on which managers you end up working with. When you had a good manager or partner to work with it was great, if you had a bad manager it could be awful.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start allowing informal teams to form and allow more consultant input and control over who they work with and on what cases.
