I have been working at Baker Hughes

Pros

good money that is the only pro

Cons

unable to have a family life at all. Told 5 days off 10 on when hired. Then never happens. Family torn apart by this.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Care about the employees that make you money. There are too many families being broke apart because of your day off policies. Very unfair and uncaring company

I have been working at Baker Hughes full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Baker is a great company to work for. Since they are a global company there is lots of room for growth. With the recent acquisition of BJ services they are still undergoing lots of changes which can be good or bad depending your what you're looking for

    Cons

The executive team seem political, which is common with most large companies. I think they could do a better job of casting vision for the entire organization. Sometimes it feels like we don't have clear objectives. They are currently using saba.com to help create alignment, great idea, but my managers don't seem to know how to leverage to tool and it is only looked at once or twice per year

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Train, train, train your managers. Cast vision and communicate openly. Don't be afraid to talk straight. Embrace social media, it's nothing to be scared of.

I worked at Baker Hughes full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Great benefits from day one. Company truck was a nice perk.

    Cons

Guys in the field aren't expected to take days off. Ever.
Expected to live at the rig and sleep in your truck or on a couch.
I had zero orientation and barely any training on their processes.
Little or no communication from field supervisors and I was a new guy!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I don't really know anything about them since I never met anybody above my field supervisor.
