It had it's up's and down's. Sometimes not enough work, so you where short hours at the end of the week.

I worked at Baker & Taylor full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

It's a job, good breaks during the shifts. Supers and managers where good as long as you did your job and didn't screw around. If you mess around too much you can expect write ups.

Cons

The unsteady hours. Some days you get sent home early and others days you work long hours (9+) only to be sent home at the end of the week. Which was ok IF you made your 40 hours for the week. There are times of the year where we would work a lot of OT. So I guess it balances out but makes it hard to pay some bills in the end.

    Pros

long standing company, large company that seems to be moving along with the times and current state of the business

    Cons

not much paid time off. Medical benefits are not good at all. No recognition for a job well . HR department is a joke. Upper management do not treat their employees well unless they favor them. No training programs to help employees do their jobs effectively. Work loads are impossible to manage.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

treat your employees with respect, we work hard for you. Learn to be fair to everyone not just the ones you favor. stop forcing out veterans.
