    Pros

Strong instructional model for teaching; Great Early Learning programs office; Dedicated staff for staff development and growth as a teacher

    Cons

Slow moving changes from BCPSS; Varying school schedules; I can't really think of any other cons about working with BCPSS other than the sometimes slow bureaucratic services for employees

I have been working at Baltimore City Public School System full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Baltimore City Schools provides nice professional development opportunities and benefits that anyone would love. The organization also allows a lot of internal movement; ideally, you could change careers pretty easy due to the several opportunities available.

    Cons

As it is with many government environments, Baltimore City Schools suffers from its fair share of the "bureaucratic red tape," making it difficult for bright ideas to be established district-wide. The majority of employees may be considered too old to adapt to change or new technology, making progress even more difficult. Also, job security at mid senior level positions and upwards may not be the best right now.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management may want to invest in standardizing systems and structures throughout the organization. In addition to that, they may also want to ensure that staff are adequately trained and supported before the option of dismissal is considered.
