Banco Central de El Salvador – “Intellectually Rewarding but severily underpaid”

Pros

Time for family and other professional pursits. Everytime I have needed time for attending personal commitments i have been granted it. Plus stress level is low and office hours are ussually not much more than contractuals

Cons

very low salaries and promotions are not very frequent. Professional skills are not well rewarded since this is an institution that has a long tradition for job stability, management think that stability is reward enough so they don't respond well to salary raise requests. Besides, promotions are very rare and usually granted to people with longest history at the bank instead of people with the highest capabilities

Advice to Senior Management

Pay attention at market salaries, differentiate between level of competence, place capable people in management jobs. Mind about the "Peter principle" signs at mangement level.
