Current Employee - Internal Audit Office (NY) - Banking Officer  in  New York, NY
Current Employee - Internal Audit Office (NY) - Banking Officer in New York, NY

I have been working at Bank Of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ

Pros

- Three weeks vacatiion in first year
- Discount food card
- 401k matched.

Cons

I am currently a Banking officer who has been there for two years within the Internal Audit group in New York

The audit department is poorly run. I would recommend not joining the group. the morale is very low and overall management is not friendly or professional.

save yourself the headache of joining and then quitting three months later..

very abusive management (VP level) that treats Banking Officers and AVP with unprofessional language and with no respect.

Work hrs are long due to inefficent scheduling of audits.

High turnover rate due to disregard for staff concerns and bad working conditions.

The rest of Bank seems to be ok, but you are not allowed to transfer out of audit.

They try to hire Big 4 candidates often so that the salary difference appears large for incoming Big 4 candidates. Thier pay structure is not competitive with local banks and bonuses are not based on merit.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your staff closely to motivate them. Setup a professional envirorment.

I have been working at Bank Of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ

    Pros

    - some good people, but at lower levels.
    - NY location, so close to transportation
    - Rest of Bank units are polite and nice.

    Cons

Please do your career a favor and Do not come to work for Internal Audit Office in NY. While the rest of the Bank units may have pluses and minuses as the other reviews show, The Internal Audit Office is the worst run audit office I have ever seen in my professional life. I been there for over a year now and had to leave...to help my career.

    The following are some aspects:

    - Incompetent Management middle and Senior (lack of plan, always fighting fires instead of developing strategy)

    - Lack of Team development (all managers are holding on to thier staff assigned to them and telling others to speak or associate with them resulting in audits being done in Silo.

    - Horrible work life balance within Audit (most of the rest of Bank units are okay and provide)
    - Lack of skills developments lead you to become non-competive in next area if you move on
    - Lack of management listening to staff needs.
    - Overworked AVP and Banking Officer Staff with poor management of hrs to run audits.
Use of excessive language from VP & Managers which is endorsed by Senior Management to lower staff (lack of respect)
    - Lack of planning in audits, leading to hectic schedules.
    - Promotion opputunities are limited and determined by Senior Management politics.
    - Lack of Transfer ability to other units.

    - Huge turnover ratio due to above reasons (they keep hiring warm bodies, hoping someone will stay long and never mention this in interviews.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To Senior Management - Make sure your direct reports are competent

To VP & Managers - Take care of your people, and figure out the problems from the people that turnover..ask and build your staff and they will give you the way to your success.
