I worked at Bank of America full-time (more than 8 years)

Pros

Market size
Mostly good people, just in a caustic environment

Cons

Too much focus on internal measures, to justify the leader's job...vs measuring performance for the customer.
HR thinks they're smarter than the business leaders....and granted too much power and influence.
Poor Change Management practices, leaders implement new changes way too frequently...that way they don't have to be accountable for their previous change project producing promised results. Shell game

I worked at Bank of America full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Many opportunities to move around to gain valuable experience in many areas of the Financial Services world. Also many SOLID training opportunities which are applicable to any industry.

    Cons

Layers and layers in the BAU world which lent itself to duplicated efforts as well as competing priorities. I would point to the layers being the primary reason for continuous change in the BAU world which left one feeling uneasy about the next day being their last.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

BAU was very difficult because it was very difficult to stay focused on the goal as change was always coming. Change needs to be much faster when change is needed. Also, STICK WITH IT for a longer period of time to give the team the opportunity to congeal and move forward. Transition oriented projects were definitely the very best of which to be a part; one goal, one team and everyone "swam together" to the finish line.

I have been working at Bank of America full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Overall it is a good company to work for. The pay is ok (could be worse, but also better). The benefits are excellent. And as long as you perform there is opportunity for you to move up.

    Cons

General rule is to stay 12-18 month in your role, before you can move up. Turn-over for managers and senior managers have been high in the last six months.
