I have been working at Bank of America part-time

Pros

*Great learning experience, learn a lot about banking and business (also meant learning how companies are all about efficiency and profit, not much else)
*Provides excellent customer service
*Some GREAT co-workers with very nice personalities
*Benefits (medical, dental, vision, retirement, tuition reimbursement...)
*BOA stays on top of the game, embracing technology advancements

Cons

**Experience depends A LOT on management
*The core values this company says they stand for are awesome, but in reality BOA does not operate according to values, only what brings in the money
*I have heard employees who have been at BOA for over 30 yrs expressing how they would get out if it weren't for their families because of all the changes made and how stressful and sales-oriented the company is becoming. Heard this is the worst 1.5 yrs of their career in banking
*Employees must be extremely flexible while expected to deal with very inflexible management
*Very strict on scheduling hours, not going overtime (will give exactly min. required hrs only)
*Sales, sales, sales... contradictory statements like "It's not about the numbers! It is about making a positive difference in our customer's financial lives!" and then grilling us about how we need more checking more checking more credit card more referrals
*Sudden changes without much explanation which leave employees without much to say to angry customers
*Employee scores depend on factors they are not able to control, numbers assigned to everything, leads to finger-pointing because SOMEONE needs to be blamed
*Very hard to work for a company that is so hated... very angry customers who come in and scream about how they hate BOA. We are supposed to give excellent customer service but management makes you practically kiss the ground the customer's walk on.
*You are just someone people come to yell at if you're at a banking center, you are just a number, a tool producing numbers who will get fired if you do not make a difference in sales, no matter how much they say that banking is about customer experience
*Starting to separate services between rich and poor people, making exceptions and giving different treatment to those with money
*Market managers being so intense they are literally known for making people cry from being intimidating and playing mind games
*Cutting jobs and dumping them on current employees, more work with less people for efficiency, though the extra tasks they assign do not mean more time or more money for employees who are doing the work
*Not a transparent company at all, so much work put into manipulating customers, tons of scripting that doesn't actually say or mean anything
*Your voice will not be heard, employees afraid of saying anything that goes against management or do not bother because they know it will not make any difference
