I worked at Bank of America full-time (more than 8 years)

Pros

Holidays and time off are very generous.

Cons

Management often checked out of day to day activities and instead focus time on creating spreadsheets for upper management. Decisions are made without consult from the employees that know the business the best. Can be terminated for small infractions even with 10+ years of experience and exceeds expectations on reviews.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better feedback from employees. More loyalty for dedicated workers.

I worked at Bank of America full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

It was a steady job with insurance and vacation.

    Cons

    1. Although sick days were allotted each year, be sure not to use them. Use of the days is counted against the employee for a year to the date of use. People are fired (not me) for using sick days.
    2. Benefits package seemed to diminish over the years to lesser forms of health insurance with higher co-pays and deductibles.
    3. You can climb the latter if management likes you. Otherwise, you're stuck.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop playing favorites, loosen up on the sick days, if you have a layoff, review your severance package and be a little more generous and competitive with the market, and don't allow your managers to promote only those with whom they have a friendly relationship.

A lot of kool-aid, but not so much competence

I have been working at Bank of America full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Generally nice people, decent compensation. Most support functions operate fairly well.

    Cons

Mid to high-level management (excepting much of C-suite) is sub-par, provincial and inbred. There is a lot of time spent on internal jockeying and competition. While this is typical in large FIs, it seems worse here.
HR is a problem. While it has gotten slightly better, the role of HR as the "secret police" within BAC tends to do more harm than good. They help create an atmosphere that is tense in an unproductive way while not being good at the blocking and tackling of the normal HR function.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upgrade management talent overall. Downgrade further the power and influence of HR.
