I worked at Bank of America full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

There used to be some good work colleagues there, but most left in 2009-10 Can't think of many others

Cons

Lying, backbiting, manipulative management An environment of fear, loathing, and constant tension Rampant HR violations, like age and sex discrimination Unrealistic expectations Contempt for customers Idiotic training Non-sense social responsibility Huge ethical and integrity lapses Terrible internal IT systems Moronic marketing and executive management The managers who remain are the dregs -- all the good rats jumped ship long ago

Advice to Management

Break it up, it is a classic case of the "Inefficiency of scale" -- turn it into 6-8 regional banks with a focus on excellence in customer service. Spin off ML and all the other non-banking units. Spin off the niche units like US Trust.

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Bank of America full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Some intelligent colleagues respectful of one another - not the corporate culture.

    Cons

They build things up to take them down. An amalgam and patchwork of different firms populated by cliques either acquired or brought on en masse. Moynihan slashing and burning for the purpose of appearing to be a tough leader - mocking the discarded as dead wood why did they hire them in the first place. Purely a numbers game - ask their customers.

    Advice to Management

Take the mantel of the small (minded) regional bank and stop pretending.

Absolutely the WRONG way to run a company in the 21st century

    Doesn't Recommend
    Neutral Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Bank of America full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Full time benefits, employee benefits

    Cons

To much micromanagement, too much presure to sell, not even following their own GUEST standards for their employees, managers spending too much time doing HR duties, no flexibility in employment, ancient computer systems with patchwork fixes, inflexible rules, no discernable heirarchy of command, training sporadic, work schedules subject to change without adequate notice, pay no commensurate with level of responsibility.

    Advice to Management

Employees should have more choice in every aspect of their employment. Training should incorporate best educational practices of the 21st century. Company should invest in modern technology.
