Current Employee - Teller in Leesburg, FL
Current Employee - Teller in Leesburg, FL

I have been working at Bank of America part-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Part-time hours can be flexible, teller pay is competitive, part-time employees are eligible for excellent full-time benefits, getting to know your customers on a face-to-face basis makes the day go by really fast

Cons

Competing for vacation days can be a pain if you're the low man on the totem pole, constantly having to upsell customers can be a downer, understaffed locations put pressure on tellers to take on more work than needed

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Trust tellers to look over customer accounts to make product suggestions rather than using a system that generates offers. Customers can easily tire of being offered products and services that they don't need while tellers end up getting the brunt of their frustration. Hold personal bankers, service specialists, and assistant branch managers more accountable for greeting customers and forming relationships.

I worked at Bank of America as a contractor (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Plenty of work and training. Talented employees at all levels. Training materials developed is very detailed and job specific.

    Cons

Planning and schedules are unpredictable and change on a regular basis. Must be very flexible and available. Too much Virtual training and not enough of Instructor led training with Subject Matter Experts attending.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have more Subject Matter Experts available for training in Pre/Post training to follow up on virtual classes to ensure employees retain what's important to their specific jobs.
