Pros

New hires can get licensed.

Cons

As the industry moves to fee-based investment consulting, Merrill Edge still slams clients into front-end loaded mutual Funds.

Advice to Management

Management is thick as thieves and unable and unwilling to look objectively at their business

    Pros

Excellent benefits and pay. I was grandfathered in for pay, but if you're coming in new, the money is NOT worth the pain you endure each and EVERYDAY

    Cons

EVERYTHING. Entire line of business/site changes in the blink of an eye, hundreds of employees laid off at a time... they're all about work/life balance right? WRONG- schedule changes that don't work with ANYONE'S lifestyle, especially if you have a family. Gone from mortgage, which is not micro-managed, to a CALL CENTER where it's micro-managed for EVERYTHING you do (don't be a minute late to work, from break or lunch). And also be ware that customers are able to verbally abuse you until a manager is available (far and few between).

    Advice to Management

Most employees can accept and adapt to change. But the way you all change things ABSOLUTELY SUCKS! Scheduling for long-term employees? SUCKS! The way you are rated? SUCKS! Your computer software? SUCKS! Even your buildings SUCK! Something is ALWAYS broken. For all the money you rob your customers of, you SHOULD be able to provide a little more incentive for employees or at least keep your buildings from leaking when it's drizzling outside. You rave about work/life balance, but your scheduling SUCKS especially when you are forced into a crazy schedule without request. But I'm sure none of management would understand with your 6 figure incomes and ability to work from home...

  2. You have to rub elbows with the upper management to move forward.

    Pros

Great for those who are still in school. The benefits are good.

    Cons

If you don't get promoted with in your 1st to 2nd year in your current position you most like are stuck their. There is always a reason that you can never move on.

    Advice to Management

If your employee can do a position that is not currently theirs, then it's only fair to promote them to that actual position.
