I have been working at Bankers Conseco

Pros

The company offers flexible training for people new to the industry. Get licensed as fast as you can work or longer if that's what you need. Flexible schedule.

Cons

Salary is completely commission based. Tough industry to start unless you have a lot of contacts that you can sell to. Leads promised are not too warm. Branch is small, but no one seems to be "killing it"

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Some sort of better lead system especially to get new agents going would be very practical. Training and motivation is decent, fun, but somewhat trivial.

I worked at Bankers Conseco as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

Great management team that was concern about personal growth of agents, willing to go the extra mile in terms of hands on training.

    Cons

Commission based job which has a lot of charge-backs and not necessarily the safest job considering both traveling and various people you come in contact with.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do consider having pairs on a consistent basis.

Great if you like driving around a LOT, wasting your own gas money and not making any money doing it.

    Pros

The recruiter is a great guy. He seems to really care about people and in helping them to succeed. He has fun training sessions. It felt good when you actually got in front of someone and were able to help them out.

    Cons

Where to start? So many. You won't make any money, but spend a lot of your own. The leads they promise are mostly people who can't afford what you're selling...and someone else has already tried to call on and close them. There are no benefits. No base pay. A LOT of expenses and okay if you have have money and time to blow. You get sent into many bad neighborhoods alone. Management only cared about themselves. Hard to work in an office where the top agent is related to the Branch Manager. Seems like there's a lot of favoritism there and has to be a conflict of interest somehow. You work so hard to make and get appointments only to get stood up or to find out that the people have absolutely no money to spend on a purchase of any kind. There is so much competition out there and it is hard to keep up with all of the product changes and education needed to be knowledgeable. Managers are allowed to make sales and take a part of your sale for helping you. Hard to make any kind of a living. They also make you travel a lot for mandatory training and don't pay you to do it. Have to share a room with someone you don't know when you get there or commute every day.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would say pay expenses and a base pay to help people get started. Some sort of a ramp-up period would be great. Don't paint such a pretty picture....be more realistic in describing how long of a learning curve there is and how little money you will make starting out.
