I worked at Bankers Life & Casualty as a contractor (more than an year)

Pros

Great training on an ongoing basis. Cyclical training cycle keeps you sharp on the sales model. Advanced training provided to sharpen skills. Product training is good.

Cons

Not enough mentoring by senior producers. Compensation model doesn't match industry leaders and leaves new agents looking for coaching after initial qualification period.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Improve field training allowance to allow agents to keep 100% commission on sales. Managers should be compensated sufficiently to allow them to focus on new agent development and not be spread too thin. Not enough managers/field training agents to cultivate new agent development.

Bad company for agents as well as clients

    Pros

Good training. Met a few good people.

    Cons

Cold calling all day, 3-4 days a week. 'Leads' are generated poorly, given to managers first, then passed down to agents when they can't write any business off them. All commission and every product pays lower than industry average as well as overpriced. No health ins, 401k... Benefits don't exist unless you buy individual plans at high cost. Management would rather take another day off than spend time training you in the field. Long history of claims denial, 5th WORST in the industry. You can make literally twice as much and get benefits at almost any better company. Trust me....

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

None. You obviously want Bankers to fail or you would be more concerned with making your agents and clients happy than making money for yourself and the precious stock holders.
