It takes patients and lots of networking to get a core job.

Advice to Management

Work closer with staffing to fill vacant positions prior to looking outside the company.

    Pros

Banner is big on wanting all employees to at least be aware of the business side of healthcare and explaining why they set priorities.

    Cons

I was able to excel in a small hospital (take on several leadership roles) but it was impossible to break into opportunities within the larger organization.

    Advice to Management

As a hiring manager, I was frustrated dealing with the hiring process via the recruiters. It took months to get even a lower-level employee hired on. Now that I am no longer with Banner and would consider going back, I see the recruitment process from the candidate side. The recruiters are like a big brick wall and I think you are missing out on real talent just because a recruiter is looking for key words in a resume.

I was told that I would get very far because I didn't know anyone or have allies.
