Pros

Decent pay for fresh graduates. Colleagues are generally very nice people. Good Benefits.

Cons

Culture of working long-hours. A lot of shoe-shining to move up vertically. Limited prospects working in back-office. Back-office is being migrated over to India/Africa. Hires a lot of contractors with the promise of conversion to perm which never really happens. No Increment/bonus for 2 years for back-office.

    Pros

A few of the one and two starred reviews gave a refreshingly candid depiction. I can only add: * leading edge valuation technology * reliably repetitive work, if that floats your boat * bright, knowledgeable people * looks good on CV for some reason The above features can be used wisely, but a clean exit is recommended if the cons below conflict with your personality.

    Cons

Lack of humanity due to * severe fixation on political advancement/strategizing * ridiculous cost-cutting (e.g., tea is not free) * location in Scary Wharf * lack of team collaboration * lack of acknowledgement of effort * employees lacking a basic sense of cognizance and humanity Bad internal prospects/day-to-day work due to * below market rates; cards will be shown upon your exit * lack of proper project work * lack of connections to other FO/risk functions * steady flow of repetitive work

    Advice to Management

Stop trying to be the next JPM finance machine. Be happy your LIEBOR fixing fine was so laughably small; buy your buddies at the FSA a bottle of champagne.
