Pros

Great group of people to work for in Operational Finance group (Inventory Control, A/P, A/R, Sales Audit). Benefits are decent with 100% match in 401K up to 4% of your pay. Company isn't too top heavy with good organizationl structure. Culture is a little stiff but overall a good place to work.

Cons

Company uses an AS400 platform, Peoplesoft, Infor PM/Office Plus. AS400 is very antiquated and frustrating to use for data analysis. Company offers very little in way of tuition assistance (not even enough to pay for 1 class at a 4 year institution)

    Pros

They cherish you as a employee. They give you an outline of expectations. Very well structured. They will not make you do anything that they do not believe in.

    Cons

Excpect you to be good at everything that you do. There is no real structure for displanary actions. They will come and fire you without reason. You put in a request to transfer to another store, they will almost hire outside of the company.

    Pros

Working at a Barnes and Noble college bookstore is a great start for those who have limited work experience. They teach each employee how to work at the cash register step-by-step, which will help you overcome any shyness and follow directions. They also email you your work hours, and they respect your school schedule. You get employee discounts too.

    Cons

It's a low paying job, and the first six months I only got 12 hours maximum. For a little more than six months, you will most likely be a temporary employee. Your chances of becoming a permanent employee is limited.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Instead of hiring so many people, I wish they would hire less people and give those people more hours.
