Barnes & Noble College Bookstores Assistant Manager in Portland, OR:   (Current Employee)

Pros

Good people, flexible scheduling, easy ability to transfer if a store is available. Benefits package (medical only). Regional Leadership is good for the most part. 401(K) plan has a generous match, vested immediately.

Cons

Salary package is low compared to cost of living (esp. in California). Benefits package (dental and vision are not nearly as good as medical). Regional Leadership can be poor in some areas.

Advice to Senior Management

Start focusing and investing on your stores which already exist, rather than putting all of your money towards the new stores, new clients, and takeovers.
