Barnes & Noble College Bookstores – “Easy work, not the greatest pay

Barnes & Noble College Bookstores Anonymous in Albany, NY:   (Past Employee - 2008)

Pros

Our store offered a great discount on textbooks as long as you worked there for two weeks. It's a fairly laid-back work environment, too

Cons

That discount you get on textbooks? If you're hired as a temp employee, you'll still end up spending your whole paycheck if you buy your books from them. Permanent staff didn't train new employees completely -- it was very rushed.

Advice to Senior Management

Have two-day training sessions for all employees and help the new ones get a feel for working on the floor.
