I worked at Barnes & Noble full-time for more than 5 years

Pros

Usually fun, like-minded co-workers; good discounts; great for people who like interaction and being up on their feet.

Cons

Minimal hours available to part-timers; stores frequently understaffed due to lack of hours; may become repetitive or boring to some.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

In store management is typically doing their best with what they've got to work with, and the organization doesn't seem too top heavy.

I have been working at Barnes & Noble full-time for less than a year

    Pros

the benefits are great, and it's not like you have to worry about being fired. everyone is really dedicated and willing to help. training systems and requirement checklists are constantly in use, although dated.

    Cons

being hired recently, and at a fairly competitive store, the feeling of scrambling around a sinking ship is hard to avoid. expectations seem impossible at times
