Pros

A Very friendly and nurturing staff. The company can identify talent and help you get promoted very quickly.

Cons

Initial low pay. And sometimes the retail environment can get very hectic. Not everyone that works there is friendly so it can be stressful.

I worked at Barnes & Noble full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Barnes & Noble is a great company to work for if you are a high school or college student. With flexibility and a cool work atmosphere, if you love books then this is for you.

    Cons

Barnes & Noble has been late with the ebook market. They are playing catch up with Amazon's Kindle, and their business is suffering because of that.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management should take a more understanding approach to booksellers and leads. There is no room for theory X management in a laid back bookstore environment.
