No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Baxter full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Good benefits, stability, great customers, great colleagues,

Cons

Too top heavy in the management and way too many re-organizations. Still a "boys club" mentality in some areas despite a "Building Women Leaders" spark group. Growth for some is only feasible if you move to another group.

Advice to Management

Stop playing musical chairs and get to know all employees and recognize the value they bring!

  1. Good team, but HR overly involved and painful to work with.

I worked at Baxter as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Life work balance. -- Rarely work over 50 hours a week. Low stress. -- Jobs rarely really get stressful due solely to the nature of work. Location (If with a family). -- Northern Illinois is a great place to raise a family.

    Cons

Location (If young professional). -- As a young professional, Northern Illinois (Not Chicago) is not a great location to be in. Nature of Work. -- There is a lack of inherent excitement in the work. You can make it be there, but it does not come naturally. HR Staff. -- The HR staff was extremely overly involved, and hard to deal with in a mutually beneficial manner.

  2. In my experiences, co-ops are the equivalent of data monkeys.

I worked at Baxter full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very nice, welcoming people. Pay well for co-ops.

    Cons

I worked out of their Round Lake, IL location which was in the middle of nowhere. You were also forced to buy your own coffee, food, etc. Almost nothing was provided at Baxter. I was not the part of most data analyses; I was however forced to learn how to work tons of different machines to collect data for superiors.

    Advice to Management

Use your co-ops! They're more than just data monkeys.
