Great place to work, but the company has some clear areas needing improvements

Pros

Multinational company with presence in very diverse industries Great opportunities for career development and job rotation Great geographical flexibility (you can pretty much plan to work in any country in the world) Protective of its employees and their needs (great work-life balance opportunities)

Cons

Bureaucracy Slow speed of decisions (and then changes to decisions) Compensation practices could be better Certain pockets still work through 'kiss-up-promotions' (sad but true!)

Advice to Management

Get rid of superfluous management layers (VPs and SVPs and GMs and all) and of steering committees (well, most of them!) Empower employees for decisions and hold them accountable (don't allow 'delegating-up', don't re-discuss decisions taken) Focus on actions than discussions and stick to the decisions Communicate how current senior management has learnt from their failures (preferably at Bayer) to drive home the message 'love of winning than fear of failure' Get the CAO organization in shape...most of them are just bean counters, absolutely useless as leaders!

    Pros

Respect for the people, a diversified environment to work and a fair support for the work / life balance, my working schedule is flexible. The reason for working at Bayer HealthCare is the constant training that gives you opportunities in enhancing your own working area's skills and Bayer HealthCare also gives you freedom in choosing additional lessons of your own interest. As Bayer HealthCare is in pharmaceutical industry, you can expect a relatively safe working place among other industries when there's a economic crisis, but it doesn't mean Bayer won't fire anybody, it's just a huge massive layoff is unlikely to happen.

    Cons

No benefit, not enough salary, no compensation at all.

    Advice to Management

More opportunities and respect for the local employees.

  2. Use to be the best place to work for women.

    Pros

Bayer use to be very people oriented. The maternity benefits use to be the best in the country and written as the best place for women to work by Fortune 500. The awards program and bonuses at Bayer are great. Recognition for work above and beyond is common. Promotions were available as well as making lateral moves. Career opportunities were made available. Benefits were also very good at the start. Employee morale use to be very good. Was a great place to work at least until the acquisition. People were treated with fairness and respect. I thought it would be the best place to retire.

    Cons

The acquisition has been very difficult. Employee morale went down once sites began to close and people started to get laid off. Was very stressful and unhappy environment to work. The benefits started to be reduced, especially the maternity benefits.

    Advice to Management

Please do your best to get the old Bayer back. Was once one of the best pharmaceutical companies for women to work.
