Pros

Great 401k and work life balance. Good opportunity to learn and take ownership of projects and run with them.

Cons

Poor culture; legacy employees blame big company for all of the business problems.

Advice to Management

Need to comb through some of the legacy employees and transition certain people into more productive roles.

I have advanced through several HQ and field based positions and experienced a good amount of success here.

    Pros

Don't typically push anyone out. If you want, you can spend you entire career here. The new CEO seems energetic, with good ideas, and a long term vision.

    Cons

To call them austere would minimize it. Extremely bottom line focused, at the expense of long-term growth. Passive aggressive culture. People are very nice superficially, but don't reveal their true motives. Very bureaucratic and slow decision making. It's not what you do or accomplish, it is who advocates for you. It's about who management is comfortable with, not who is most qualified.

    Advice to Management

Make promotions based on merit, not who is liked more or more well connected. Set up on boarding for all new employees, both internal and external hires. Focus more on the long term, not the short term. Provide more transparent career and succession planning. Promote strategists and people who have accomplished, not "potential". Spend for the long term instead of bleeding assets for every penny of profit.

  2. A mismanaged company with disconnected leadership

    Pros

Good benefits, nicely lit new building, long-time workers adaptive to changes in leadership. Despite lowered salaries, newly outsourced employees still maintain a professional demeanor with their former company's interests as their goal.

    Cons

Top level and senior management are "latest trend" oriented and kept distanced from issues and decisions made by poorly skilled lower management that negatively affect many employees. New open office concept creates loss of productivity as many employees spend time looking for places to have private conversations, meetings and interviews.
