With some good benefit like health insurance, 401a , flexible working hour, don't expect too much with salary.

I worked at Baylor College of Medicine as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

Academic Medical Center, Brand Recognition, Recently created the Baylor College of Medicine Medical Center and are condensing offices to the new McNair building for better operational efficiency.

    Cons

BCM takes advantage of student interns as free labor. Several students from nearby universities were given carrots which were subsequently redacted once the administrator got what they needed from the student. There were promises of employment or paid internships after so long.

I have been working at Baylor College of Medicine full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

World class facilities. Cores for genomics (aside from the human genome sequencing centre), proteomics, mouse phenotypic analysis. A slew of researchers that work on diverse research areas from modeling to basic research and clinicians

    Cons

Due to its location and mandate, strictly focuses on biological research

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The early postdocs need to have a structured program and mentoring towards their career.
Grad students need a career counseling, given that a vast majority of PhDs will end up in non academic and non research setting for their longterm careers (not enough academic positions available).
