Pros

Large company comes with some benefits.

Cons

Senior management shows little foresight or wisdom.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

In a service organizaiton, too much change over a relatively short span of time is destabilizing and demoralizing to the workforce as well as the customers. After one site closure 2 years ago, it took time to rebuild the business and the revenue pipeline. More patience was needed to see that business continue to expand. Instead, a decision was made to close more sites and reduce the service offerings. This is likely to further weaken, not strengthen, the business.

    Pros

This is a place where you can challenge yourself, where the job is rewarding and beneficial to the public.

    Cons

Management frequently seemed to be at a loss for how to best accomplish their goals. Lots of going in circles as reorganization seemed to supersede actual planning.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pick a path, communicate it and work it. Don't keep changing hoping things will improve. Carefully evaluate your people so you keep the good ones and let the dead wood go.
