Great job for someone with no experience, frustrating for the overqualified and those who can't find anything better.

    Pros

If you always show up on time, the job is yours to lose. You won't ever find your scheduled shift cut short. In every department, there is usually at least one associate or manager who has been around and can be very helpful while you are still getting a feel for the business. Learn from these people. If you have experience and what you think is a pretty good salary at your current retail job, BBB usually matches what you already make if they are interested in you (if this is you, apply to BBB right now!)

For those who know nothing about retail and don't have much of any product knowledge, this is a really good place to start. BBB has "University" style training where a team of 2-4 people schedule you for classes on different sections of your department and others. These trainings are followed up with a sellback where you pretend to sell a product you were given a class for (ex: pillows). Personally, I have always learned at least one or two things from every class that I have been given.

    Cons

Career advancement is mostly based on who is most liked (favorites) by upper management and who you know rather than who may be best for the job. If you are not one of these people, expect to wait longer (years) for any promotion beyond full-time. There are always people coming in, and there is no concern about the lack of knowledge the new managers/associates have because the University training will give new hires the opportunity to learn more about the business.

BBB knows that although other retailers may pay more, the hours are low, so getting what you think is a fair raise for your level of productivity is going to be way less. As an associate, you might find yourself taking direction from a manager who makes it very plain that they don't care about the company, the business or the customers. Most of these managers have been hired from other companies instead of getting promoted from within and usually don't have much product and merchandising knowledge.

    Advice to Management

Besides theft, pretty much every section where there are low dollars than expected you'll find at least one manager and perhaps an associate who is really hurting the bottom line. It is really hard to be the one trying everyday while others are undermining your work. Please reevaluate how you address this.

    Pros

Good Benefits Great pay friendly coworkers

    Cons

Lack of communication. Job performance does not matter it's all about who likes you

    Advice to Management

Stop promoting lazy managers and promote the ones who actually do their job.
