I have been working at Bed Bath & Beyond part-time for more than a year

Pros

I work with very nice people. The customers are generally pleasant (there's a few crankies). It's a pretty easy job once you learn it.

Cons

You do get some pretty cranky customers once in awhile. It's a little bit annoying when customers expect you to know absolutely everything...from directions to what other stores are around to where every single product is located.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

We (the cashiers) have off days sometimes too. It'd be nice if you weren't so hard on us sometimes.

Worst company to work for. Care about money, not people.

I worked at Bed Bath & Beyond full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    provide good product knowledge training.
train you step by step for customer service, so that you can act like a robot.
Store managers and District support staff pay well, and don't have to work hard for it, just deleget to mini. hourly paid employees. Plus bonus.
Care about safety because they won't want to be sued.

    Cons

If your store manager doesn't like you, you will not get good review and you will be retaliated.
District staff sit in front of PC all day in the office, no wonder they are getting fater and fater.
Don't get a break at least you work over 6 hours.
You are not allowed to be sick. if you called out, you will be only scheduled for 4 hours next week.
pay raise only 20 cents or less after working so hard for a year.
You are expected to be sales, cashier, stock, bridal consultant, floor coverage, clean restroom, etc. - all at the same time.
Inconsistant reviews and measurements - all about if they like you or not.
HR and open door policy are jokes. If you speak up, HR will advise SM to get rid of you legal way.
Mystery shopper program - just another way for upper management to get rid of the ppl that they don't like. If they want to keep you, you can get away with it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't waste payroll on too many district support staff, District manager should able to do it all since paid well. Give more pay to your hard working sales associates - who are real people to make money for the company.

    Cons

Managers are hands on with all projects, this is not a con. Most people don't expect this when starting.
