Pros

CTV Bellmedia attracts some of the best and brightest in the Television Journalism field in Canada. Pay is competitive within the industry.

Cons

If you aren't in Toronto you will have a tough time getting noticed in this corporation. Local managers have no real management training and are promoted from lower ranks. These promotions are based more on personal connections than ability or aptitude for the job of leading others.

Advice to Management

If you can't take criticism maybe you shouldn't be in a leadership position. People often get frustrated with events or elements of their job. As management it is your job to listen, understand and then react in a calculated way. Don't make "problems" bigger by your actions but smaller. Senior managers need to recognize when the worker bees know more and offer better advice than your middle managers and "senior" newsroom leaders.

    Pros

    good benefits
lots of opportunity to move around if you perform well in your role
    employee discounts
there are good leaders within the organization, but not all leaders are the same
    Training courses

    Cons

compensation varies dramatically from one person to another. in many cases, the manager makes less than their employees and there's no way to change that.
very difficult to remove individuals especially those who have not performed well. simply firing someone is not so simply anymore

    Advice to Management

there needs to be something done about compensation and removal of individuals who are not performing well. the process cannot take up to 2 years for something to happen as it seems be that way today.
