I have been working at Ben Venue full-time (more than an year)

Pros

Plenty of vacation days given. Decent healthcare. Decent cafeteria during day shift. Very flexible with short notice time off. Personal lockers given.

Cons

Management is clueless and unethical. This facility produces injectable drugs. More care should be taken in making these drugs safe and effective. Facility is old and technology is at least 15 years outdated. Entirely too much fluff. Approximately 1400 people at facility only 500 are involved with manufacturing.

I have been working at Ben Venue full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Good financial backing from parent company (Boehringer-Ingelheim), good talent, good location (NE Ohio), diverse product portfolio.

    Cons

Less than ideal management/employee communication, career advancement is sporadic, employee turnover, career opportunities are not as available to tenured employees, currently there is an excessive reliance on outside contractors.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have more faith in tenured employees; listen to the employees, there are many good ideas to help get productivity to previous levels.

I have been working at Ben Venue full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

The end product of the company is to get vital medications to patients. When this is successful, the benefit is truly that lives are saved or sustained and each employee is directly involved in that. The company does an admirable job of rewarding success via raises and benefits and the pay is competitive compared to other companies. The beneifts package can be a reason why many people deal with the Cons of the company; even at its worst, the benefits package is arguably better when compared to other power industries.

    Cons

Many layers of upper management with conflicting views on solving challenges. Also, there appears to be a lack of respect for the legacy braintrust. While the company faces challeges from its past, some of the ideas that worked actually could be beneficial. Some "old" ideas are abandoned, new ideas prove costly and then the "old" ideas are readopted as damage control. Controlled documentation is complicated.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Mid-management should be required to spend some time hands on with the non-management tasks. Eliminate some layers of upper management that are redundant and only serves to create gaps in communiation between non-management and senior management.
