Bottom Line Driven over Care of Residents and no Work/Life Balance

    Pros

Hard to find any Pros other than the residents.

    Cons

Work/Life Balance is a joke! Sales Expectations are unrealistic. You are micro-managed, and there are ridiculous #s of meetings and sales reports that are dissected all week long wasting valuable time.
Regional Directors work Monday-Friday but community Directors work either Sundays-Thursdays or Tuesdays to Saturday in order to cover weekends which takes a valuable :business day" off the table and results in a huge disconnect amongst management team Working as a team is an illusion And the back-stabbing is inevitable as everyone is worried about covering their own $$$.
Company claims to want to set you up for success but that is just smoke and mirrors as everyone is so focused on justifying their own job that they will take you down in a second.
You compete for Move Ins with your sister communities and then get marks against you for losing a prospect!
Your input is not welcome especially if against corporate directives which come often with no reality of differences in economies of individual communities.
Chaos and Dissatisfaction abound and everyone is afraid to do or say anything. It is not a fun place to work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Sadly, it seems that Tom Grape is just a figurehead and the company he started and for which many employees said was a great place to work has been taken over by corporate greed. The desire for profit in each community overrides doing the right thing for the residents!! Get rid of split work week schedules for Community Directors unless entire company works this way. then you might understand how ineffective it is for your own job! Start taking a better look at what goes on in each community and Practice what you preach! You will continue to lose great employees who genuinely care about making their communities a great place to live for their residents because you see only numbers and continue to promote unrealistic directives. Better pay for caregivers and you will attract better ones and keep them longer. It is an extremely stressful job and your gratitude grams are nice but do not make up for poor pay!

I have been working at Benchmark Senior Living full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Mostly, Great Residents, lots of activities for the residents and food is great for them

    Cons

not enough on the job training for the amount of residents a CNA covers in a shift. Some CNA's give it a bad reputation. Depending upon your shift- you could be working with prejudice girls that wont help you. They have a policy if you see abuse, report it- but watch out if you do- friends and co-workers take care of each other. You also don't know what floor you're working until you get there, which could pose a problem- the work load per floor is not balanced. Saw CNA's disrespect residents rights.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

train the CNA's yourself-see for yourself. Balance the number of residents with equal share of CNA's on duty- too little staff.
