    I have been working at Benihana part-time for more than a year

    Pros

    We had one of my favorite crews there. The decor and ambiance is nice and it is, generally, a fun place to work.

    Cons

    Rude/cheap customers seem to flock to ours in Alaska. The chefs take 9% of the ticket total in tips, period. It doesn't matter if people don't leave a tip, the servers were still required to tip them their 9%.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pay the chefs more so the servers don't have to supplement their income. They are paid at least $5 under the average chef in Anchorage. Also, just because you're a manager, doesn't mean you can't pitch in and help your staff when someone calls in sick or they need an extra hand.
