Benjamin Moore – “A company with great perks but poor career development.

May 14, 2009

1.0

Benjamin Moore Lab Tech in Flanders, NJ:   (Past Employee - 2007)

Pros

Benjamin Moore offers a lot of perks to make up for the fact that they pay so little. They provide 4 weeks vacation and free lunch everyday. There is a good sense of community there with sports teams and other activities. Most of the people were great to work with.

Cons

Someone without experience will have to wait a long time to be promoted or gain any recognition at this company. People with Master's degrees were working as lab technicians while I was there making around 35k a year. Needless to say, everybody in that situation has since left the company.

Advice to Senior Management

Learn the term Price Elasticity of Demand and you won't lose half your business in a down economy. Find ways to challenge younger talent if you want to keep them on board.
