I worked at Benjamin Moore full-time for more than 5 years

Pros

Benjamin Moore Paint is the best you can buy. Customers come because they get excellent customer service and a superior product. Benefits are OK.

Cons

Working at any retail operation has it's challenges. There is never enough people to help all the customers and their specific needs. BM has the ability to hire the employees they need to meet the incredible demand however, they choose to work as few people as possible and scold them for mistakes that are inevitable.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire part-time employees during the busy seasons. Upgrade the POS systems. Reward the counter sales folks when their store exceeds the budget. Not just the Managers.

I worked at Benjamin Moore full-time

    Pros

A few decent people; free lunch, a chair, a desk... a great brand and product made by smart people undermined by bad and often clueless management.

    Cons

Most of upper management are busy running for cover.

    Leadership is almost non-existent.

Most employees barely know what their purpose is, other than to take orders and produce work then sits ignored on their boss's desk for weeks.

Entire programs and initiatives are designed, implemented and then scuttled -- all in a few months time. The waste of talent, time and ultimately is incredible.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Senior leadership needs to go.

I worked at Benjamin Moore full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

people were fairly nice - free lunch - everyone starts with 3 weeks vacation. Work is very easy.

    Cons

All decisions are made by senior levels. Everyone must be a "yes" man or you are out. there is no regard for skill, it's all based on who likes you. Very sad. Tons of racism and sexism.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your people. Don't take them for granted, Women can have something important to say - please listen
