I worked at Benjamin Moore full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Life balance was fair, and benefits were good. Corporate offices were in a beautiful setting and easy to get to.

    Cons

Management was fragmented and often changed direction with out giving strategy a chance to evolve. New senior management came in and that was worse as the CEO thought he was a gift to the company and often degraded his leadership staff openly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Most of it has been in the paint industry for many years. They know what the right path is but don't wnat to implemnt the programs to support it and continue to invest marketing dollars on a long gone audience.

I have been working at Benjamin Moore full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Decent effort to improve the culture
    Educational opportunities (seminars, courses, etc)
    Company promotes productivity
A lot of great ideas, and people to execute those ideas
A lot of people stay for 20+ years
    Good benefits

    Cons

Not enough people willing to change old habits to conform with the "new culture"
    Career progress can be slow
"new culture" puts younger/newer employee in the difficult position to manage up, instead of demanding some managers to be better managers.
Large gap between "old timers" and "young talent"

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To all managers, including upper management: Actively engage in looking out for the careers of those who work below you. The company needs new fresh insight and energy. Their success is your success.
