I worked at Bernstein-Rein

Pros

good parties
great people
good it department that responds quickly to issues
free coffee
nice conference rooms
good media planners

Cons

lack of leadership
not the best benefits
if your account is not performing you could be on the chopping block
bit of a good ol' boys club

Advice to ManagementAdvice

leadership should be based on skills- not a club of your closest friends who have no difference of opinion. Also when times are good- you should plan and spending the same way when times are bad.

    Pros

Amazing people that really care about their work and they care about you as a person, not just an employee.
They allow for a good work-life balance - as long as the client's are happy, they're happy.
Summer Fridays and the week off between Christmas & New Years are great!

    Cons

Health benefits aren't great, especially for working moms. maternity is really bad (only 4-weeks paid).
Sometimes slow, sometimes advertising-crazy-busy, but that's advertising for you.
I live out south, so the I-35 drive is no fun.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make the changes/adjustments you've recently announced - Headed is a great direction!

I worked at Bernstein-Rein full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    - Independent
    - Low amount of agency effort = Low amount of required hours

    Cons

    - "Good 'ol boys club"
    - Low wages
    - Inability to keep up w/ the times in advertising
    - Horrid management

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start over. It is obvious that you have "grandfathered" talent and family-friends into the current state of the agency... It is beginning to become a running joke. Wake up and reboot yourselves to something relevant again.
