Pros

Floor Employees are great to work with. As a team, we are always willing to help each other. We know how to work hard, yet have fun at the same time. Truly dedicated people. Some managers are quite helpful, willing to get their hands dirty with the rest of us.

Cons

Management forgets what it was like to be a line level employee. They do a poor job of training new employees. Quite often, the new employees are overwhelmed and give up. Recognition is very rare. Some managers treat employees with much disrespect, even when those employees are doing their best. They have a superior attitude, and are not willing to pitch in when help is desperately needed.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide more training. Unless you are very highly self-motivated to learn, you will feel lost for months. Too many potentially excellent employees are lost due to poor training and lack of leadership.

I have been working at Best Buy

    Pros

Salary tops all others inthe field, benefits, and comraderie of employees. The motto is to have fun whilebeing the best and at times this can be a very fun job.

    Cons

Favoritism in advancement, problems with upper management "doing 1 thing and saying another." Upper management is not a real presence inthe stores, many deals for promotions happen in a social environment. Recently there has been a huge influx of hiring outsiders rather than promoting from within - somehting that Best buy has always prided itself on. This is a good , stable company but it seems to have taken a wrong turn at the present time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The promotion should not be abused through favoritism. Feedback should be timely and informative. Upper Management should be a presence in all stores not simply a chosen few. .
