I worked at Best Buy full-time (more than a year)

Pros

Gained a lot of experience and was given many different opportunities to move up.

Cons

Restructuring of company made my position obsolete. I then got pushed into a sales role that I had no experience, training, or want to be in.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Each manager had a specific role to focus on and made each day different as far as priorities. All the managers should have the same priorities and the same focus for the team each day.

I worked at Best Buy part-time

    Pros

The positives depend on what store you're at- some even in my town are better run than others. But fun environment, high standards, and the discount is great for Christmas shopping. Corporate culture is really positive and impressing.

    Cons

Company is slowing dying due to the Internet and struggling to respond and lack of a commission system doesn't reward best sales people

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do better at adapting to the new marketplace.

I worked at Best Buy full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

    Strong emphasis on Employee satisfaction
    Excellent Benefits and Bonus incentives
    Better than competitive pay

    Cons

Long Hours, averaging 60/week as a salaried manager
    Nights, Weekends and ALL Holidays
6+ day work weeks several weeks a year
In other words, no such thing as a work/life balance. its all work, including several times daily phone calls.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remember that managers are employee's too, and family should be higher on the priority list.
Their is no use to having an SOP if stores are allowed to deviate from that and create their own policies or procedures.
