I have been working at Best Buy full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

* Company runs like a sports team...it's not about how long you've been there or who you know, but what you contribute to the team. It's one of the few places where if you work your butt off, you will be recognized and rewarded for that
* Great overall benefit package for FT employees and they are working hard to create solid benefits for PT employees as well
* Potential for overall personal development is higher than most places, but you have to be willing to go after it and show you truly are willing to work for it

Cons

* Last few years, they have lost sight of their core values, and in some parts of the company, they are pushing hard without recognition or reward to go along with it
* Low volume stores are like working for a totally different company, and the employees and managers there work much harder for the same or less than the rest of the company

Advice to ManagementAdvice

* ensure the values are truly being lived at ALL levels, especially with your district and territory staffs, who have too much power
* truly learn what life in a low volume store is like, don't just believe what your territory teams are telling you

    Pros

I like the company for pay, awesome co-workers, the product, and some discounts were amazing. Loved being a resource for people. got alot of amazing training and product knowledge that i will always carry with me.

    Cons

All in all its an awesome company to work for but its none commission (which is cool for me) but they push to sale! .. none stop pushing to sale for revenue buget and margin. which is still benefitcal because you still get bonus for the month off of 100% budget. I loved the people, but for the store i worked for 186 broomfield co, some of the managment treated you like your stupid or a 4 year old. making people ''explain why they took this step for this reason and what their ''consequence should be'', the discount kind of blows because usually its family anywhere else, but for best buy they say only YOU!!! then i love how you work 39.5 hours and considered part time no beneifits and your bonus is only 15% of buget and full time working 37+ hrs you get 35% of buget

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat the associates with respect! were not 5 years old. people make mistakes and its NONE COMMISION! DONT PUSH TO SALE.
