I worked at Best Buy full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

-Interact with new people on a daily basis

-Great sales experience

-Make new friends quickly

-Great employee discount

-Secure job as long as you aren't underperforming

Cons

-Politics inside the stores sometimes make it a bear to work; favoritism is noticeable and brown nosers bypass hard working people in the ranks

-Management often already has decided who they are going to hire into an open position if it's internal before the interviews

-If your manager is stressed you will most likely know it; some leadership personalities are to be short and rude to get the job done

-Pay could be better if you consider how much money you make the company if you are one of the better salesmen

-Understaffing departments is a big big problem

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't take your bad day out on your employees.

When low level people have ideas, you should listen.

Take into consideration the hard working people in the store when it's time to hire for an open position...all too often people are promised things and then you don't follow through or somebody who doesn't really deserve the position based on what you SHOULD be measuring gets the job anyway.

    I worked at Best Buy

    Pros

Technologically advanced. Liked learning about new state of the art items and the structure is set up for you and your team to benefit from productive months

    Cons

Like any other retailer, when sales go south pressure on associates go north

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep listening to employee feedback. The store can only go so far depending on how the moral of the associates are
